How to Care for Stainless Flatware

Congratulations on the purchase of your 18/10 stainless. The "18/10" refers to steel that is formulated with 18% Chromium and 10% Nickle. Chromium helps the steel resist rust and staining, while Nickel gives the steel a deep luster. Only the most expensive stainless is made with 18/8 and 18/10 steel.

Whenever a fine cutting edge is required, as in the knife blades of our new stainless from GINKGO Int'l, Ltd., the blade is made from 13% chrome steel, and then tempered. The 13% chrome tempered blades can be re-sharpened, are flexible, and have a "memory" - they snap back into their original shape after being bent. However, they have less chromium, so are a bit more prone to oxidation (rust) and water spots. Do not leave your knives sitting in the wet sink. If any of your flatware becomes water stained you may clean them with a good quality stainless steel polish.

How to Care for Patriot Pewter

PATRIOT PEWTER
The Look of Sterling without the Maintenance

Genuine Pewter was the tableware of Colonial America.
Chinaware then took its place as the adverse properties of lead were recognized.

Today, pewter is completely food safe and is available in traditional shapes and satin finishes.

However, only PATRIOT PEWTER today employs Genuine Pewter to simulate the look of sterling silver, such as:

HAND HAMMERING
HIGH POLISH SHINE

All this is achieved without the constant tarnishing and polishing required of silver or silverplate---PATRIOT PEWTER is low maintenance.

PATRIOT PEWTER uses a special, food safe alloy that is stronger than traditional pewter.

PATRIOT PEWTER is a shining alternative to the less expensive aluminum alloys of “alternative metals”.

CARE AND USE
Hand wash in warm, soapy water, quickly rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

Do not place any pewter in a dishwasher.

Careful use will add to the patina of the metal.
